Ok to go…

Small steps Ellie, small steps...The Golden Globe awards were this past Sunday, and among other awards, the Cecil B. DeMille award went to Jodie Foster. She starred in a lot of movies I have seen over the years.¬†I remember watching “Freaky Friday” starring¬†Jodie at a drive-in theatre, long before the “new version” came out. Also about a decade before that movie’star was born.

Ok, so I am showing my age. No worries, I still feel young compared to Jodie. Anyhow, she gave a speech, no details here. Apparently she is retiring from acting. Good for her. She’s put in her time… 5 decades, roughly. She did star in one of my all-time favorite movies, “Contact“. Based on the novel by Carl Sagan… I won’t spoil any of it here, but… if you have not seen it… give it a try. I was happy to see, at the awards show, when they showed a montage of movie clips from her career, that a scene from that movie was one of the first clips. It was the “I’m ok to go” scene. Again if you have not seen the movie…

What does it all mean? Should you get out more, take more adventures, try to meet new people? Formulate your own opinions. Time travel would be cool (oops, spoiler), but… there is plenty to do, plenty of people to meet right here in the here and now. Something is telling me it’s time to move on from the past, let all that bad energy go. Take a step into the unknown, dare to meet and interact with total “strangers” (are you really any less strange?). As easy as it is to conform to the norm, I plan to be ready to say… “I’m ok to go…”
